Sometimes there is no need to describe a race.  It's known by one name, but it describes the emotion, the drama, and the excitement all in one.

Not many tracks can be described in that sense, but it takes only one name to get fans and drivers riled up enough that when they step foot into the track, it gets them just as excited as the fans.

One word will sum up this race...Bristol.

For years the night race at the Bull Ring has provided us with moments that stand the test of time in NASCAR.  Dale Earnhardt and Terry Labonte had two infamous run-ins at this race, with each ending up on one good end and one bad end.  There were incidents of flipping the bird, or throwing helmets, heat shields, and sometimes steering wheels.

It's a short track, that is what it is known for, and more than likely there will be a few more incidents added to that long list in the 2013 edition of the Bristol night race.

For the writers, it could mean a chance to get aggressive and move up in the standings.  Their picks are locked in, with no turning back.  Here's who they chose to win the Irwin Tools Night Race:

Misan Akuya:  Jamie McMurray

He has two top fives and five top tens in the last seven races here.  McMurray is due for a win.

Rob Blount:  Joey Logano

He’s very strong at Bristol. He led a lot of laps in this race one year ago. He was incredibly strong and had a car that could win before he was put in the wall by Denny Hamlin in the spring.

He won last week and is on the verge of making the Chase for the first time in his career. He has momentum on his side and I say he starts a streak of really strong finishes.

James Broomhead:  Kevin Harvick

No reason.

Kelly Crandall:  Kyle Busch

This weekend seems to be set up for another KB triple.

Billy Fellin:  Kyle Busch

One of his best race tracks on the circuit and he's already won the Truck race. I think he enjoyed doing that no-handed burnout, and wants to do another. I'll take the 18.

Michael Hirshbein:  Kyle Busch

No reason.

Christopher Leone:  Kyle Busch

Ghost burnouts are totally good karma.

Kara Martin:  Kyle Busch

No reason.

Ryan O'Hara:  Jeff Gordon

I just need a win and well I don't have any, so yeah lets see what happens.

Dustin Parks:  Kasey Kahne

He was really strong here in the spring, ended up winning the event.  He's on the outside looking in right now with the Chase, being in the Wild Card spot but with two wins.

It'd be nice to get a third win to outright secure his spot, but he needs in the top-10 so that those wins can count toward seeding.

Patti Rodisch:  Kyle Busch

No reason.

Sal Sigala Jr:  Kyle Busch

No reason.

Rob Tiongson:  Kasey Kahne

Gotta go with the driver who found his way to Victory Lane in March. Plus the fine peeps at Farmers Racing said it'd be a wise choice, right y'all?

If my pick wins, will you get Kasey to hum your ad's motto?

Final Thoughts:  When track officials made changes to the banking at Bristol, their intention was to bring side-by-side racing.  But fans didn't like that...they wanted aggression, upset drivers, and bent parts.  So the top groove was ground down, and part of that "Old Bristol" returned.

Now, with a new car, a tight Chase battle, and many teams wanting to lock into the Chase, maybe more of that Chase field will be determined.

Coverage begins on ABC beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night.
