Enhancing Car Performance

You don’t have to be a boy racer to want to get the best out of your car. Equally, most people who are looking for performance parts are seeking to make a valuable investment, whether in their vehicle’s performance or in its value. But where do you start?

The majority of people who aren’t simply interested in making cosmetic changes will steer clear of new paint jobs or fancy light sets. Instead, they look for performance car parts that will increase the speed, performance, and horsepower of their engines. From new Subaru models to old cadillacs, this can be beneficial for all cars.

An added bonus, or perhaps the end goal, is also being able to improve the fuel efficiency of their vehicle. The important thing is to have a good idea of the overall results you are looking to achieve before you embark on any modifications. Not only is it essential to ensure that any separate component parts you purchase will work seamlessly together, but it’s also critical to install them in the right order. Unless you are a professional mechanic, it’s likely that you’ll benefit substantially from taking advice from experts in the field. This is before you start spending money on car performance parts that could cause damage to the structure or operation of the car, rather than adding value or improving its running.

You should also make certain that any modifications will not fall foul of the law if you intend to still drive the vehicle on the roads. Fitting aftermarket parts can affect your insurance too, so always ensure you’re well informed before you buy.

Performance Clutches – What Are Their Advantages Over OEM clutches?

Performance clutches are ideal if you’re looking to make some modifications to your car to improve its performance. But how does investing in this piece of kit give you advantages over the one installed by the original equipment manufacturer (‘OEM’)?

There are three essential differences between a performance clutch and an OEM version. The first is that a performance clutch will be capable of applying a greater clamping force on the pressure plate, which translates into a higher torque production than can be achieved by the OEM-style clutch. This makes for an increase in acceleration.

The second major difference is that an OEM clutch disk is usually made of an organic material, while a performance clutch is generally made of a sturdier material. The typical OEM clutch offers smooth engagement and is durable over long periods of time with regular, normal driving use and conditions. However, if you intend to push your car to its limits, you will want car tuning parts that can withstand the additional pressure. A performance clutch disk will, therefore, be made from a material that absorbs less heat than its OEM counterpart, maintaining its performance even at higher temperatures.

The third significant difference is that a performance clutch will tend to use a ‘puck’ design; cut-outs in the disk reduce the overall surface area, therefore, increasing the pressure on the pucks. This can help reduce slipping when the driver presses down hard on the throttle.
